Fellow Contractors
The SOS office caught everyone off guard last week, with the renewal notice email on Monday.
PLEASE DO NOT PANIC
Sherri and I have sorted out the steps and process to renew.
Set up GOALS
Click
https://goals.sos.ga.gov/GASOSOneStop/s/login/?ec=302&startURL=%2FGASOSOneStop%2Fs%2F
Click VERIFY if you have pin from previous SOS email or click RESEND PIN, enter your email, it will send you one.
Verify information- GOALS is how you will renew and communicate with SOS Office.
Renewal tab will walk you through process. Same questions as usual re: citizenship, trouble with law enforcement, bankruptcy, etc. Those are same as always.
Renewals will be blocked until CE requirements are satisfied.
CE Broker – platform for compliance of hours earned.
Goto:
Run through GET Started – to set up account.
NOTE there is a FREE version that will do all you need. The 39.99 package may be helpful if you are licensed in other states that also use CE Broker-- but start simple, you can upgrade later.
You will need to upload scanned training certificates to prove hours earned. If you do not have them, please email Sherri at licensedtrades@msn.com. She is working through emails, in order, and can send PDF certificates to you.
When it asks for format use Seminar. We are a Professional Association; use “GA Licensed Trades - Mike Paino”, as name.
If you need any class time, we have added in-person classes and Live Webinar dates to meet the General Contractor’s 50/50 rule. https://www.licensedtrades.org/spring-2018-ce. The ones called Virtual are live online, and attended from the convenience of your home or office.
If you would like a self-paced, online class, check out. https://www.licensedtrades.org/copy-of-online-ce-only
Sherri batches these certificates out on Mondays, for the prior week and weekend.
Digital Chalk cannot produce certificates in the format required by SOS.
Proof of Insurance – GC only requirement – Residential Basic $300k, Residential Light Commercial $500k – Commercial General Liability policy must be maintained. Please discuss this with your insurance broker, or you can locate reasonable online options from:
https://www.nextinsurance.com/
Going Forward.
Once SOS gets system set up completely, CE providers will be able to upload class attendance records directly to CE Broker.
Thanks
Mike Paino
